No... Exmerge would error out and fail to create a PST.

I have found the answer though. Restoring a mail store to a Recovery Storage
Group on Exchange 2003 after you migrate to Exchange 2007 requires you to make
a change to the RSG using ADSIEdit.

Could you not use EXMERGE to put the Information in the mailbox in question
into a PST file, open the PST with Outlook, and find the message you need?

Subject: Restoring Ex2003 mailbox after a migration to Ex2007

I have been ask to look for an e-mail that was received almost a year ago.
Generally this is not a huge problem, but, during that time frame we have
migrated to Exchange 2007 from 2003. Luckily, I have not decommissioned my
Exchange 2003 and it is still online. So, when I recover the 2003 mailstore to
a RSG, all is fine. When I use ExMerge, it fails and puts the following in the
ExMerge log:

Error opening message store (MSEMS). Verify that the Microsoft Exchange
Information Store service is running and that you have the correct permissions
to log on. (0x8004011d)

When I research this error, I find that it is because the mailbox has been
moved from the original location it was in during the backup. So, it tried to
move the mailbox back to original 2003 server and it failed with some odd error.

So what is my next step? Has anyone encountered having to restore mailboxes
after a migration? What is the proper procedure for handling this?

Thanks,
Scott
