Well BE does use MSDE. I don’t remember the remote agents using it.

There aren't any SQL tools installed on the box, is there a way for me to determine who is writing to this MSDE database without installing the tools ? After running Perfwiz i noticed high-disk usage coming from the sqlserver instance and i need to know if MSDE is even necessary on this box at all. Best,
