Hey Listee's,
I am trying to restore an exchange 2007 x64 SP1 server on a Windows
2003 x64 R2 Standard box in a Win2k3 domain using the
"/M:RecoverServer /DoNotStartTransport" options and this morning we
were having some DNS issues, as such the setup only partially
compelted. Now I when I try and run it again its errors out with the
following error (this is the only Exchange server in our Org so no
edge server):
C:\ex_setup>setup.com /M:RecoverServer /DoNotStartTransport
Welcome to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Unattended Setup
Preparing Exchange Setup
The following server roles will be recovered
Hub Transport Role
Client Access Role
Mailbox Role
Management Tools
The following server roles are already installed: BridgeheadRole, ClientAccessR
ole, MailboxRole, AdminToolsRole.
Exchange Server setup encountered an error.
The set up logs saying;
[8/10/2010 1:52:58 PM] [0] The server cannot be recovered because
Setup has detected that Exchange server roles are already installed.
[8/10/2010 1:52:58 PM] [0] The following server roles are already
installed: BridgeheadRole, ClientAccessRole, MailboxRole,
AdminToolsRole.
[8/10/2010 1:52:58 PM] [0] End of Setup
Can I remove these roles some how and start over? Using "setup.com
/M:Uninstall /R:HT,MB,CA...etc" doesn't work, setup.com doesn't want
to let me invoked it in any other way other than with /M:RecoverServer
other wise it will error out:
Setup previously failed while performing the action "DisasterRecovery". You ca
nnot resume setup by performing the action "Install".
How can I force it to remove these roles so I can start again,
ADSIEdit maybe? I couldn't find anything though (although I wouldn't
particularly know what I would be looking for!)
