Would the recommendation be to install NEW Exchange servers in a new domain in the same forest and then migrate the mailboxes?

My boss and I have been asked to change the netbios domain name so that it matches. We want to go one better to rename the domain to a generic domain name, so that if and when the company changes names again, we won't have to go through this again.
