When running a recovery setup for 2007 (on Windows 2008 Server STD, 64-bit),
I get the error "You must perform disaster recovery using the same version
of Exchange as the last installed version. The current installed version is
'8.1.240.6', the last installed version was '8.2.176.2'." This copy of
Exchange is the one I installed on this server, though, at one time, there
was a copy of Exchange 2007 installed on a 64-bit 2003 server, which was
removed. I have searched high and low for that disk, but it seems to have
walked away. Is there anything I can do short of doing a fresh install?

I am also facing another problem, but I have yet to research it thoroughly,
and it is not really proper fodder for this list other than obliquely. I had
to reinstall the server, but Microsoft's backup is not recognizing the
previous backup files on a removable disk. Fortunately, I hope, I saved the
stores and logs to another location before starting this project. Would I be
able to use these as if they were a backup being restored?
