James, good luck.

I successfully used this document to perform a DR. We combined two servers
into one, standardizing on the Mailbox Role Server being the one we made sure
the name matched. Once it was up they split the roles again.

Don't forget to reset the computer account that your MB Role was installed on.

I seem to remember being told by PSS once that being on a higher SP is better
than being on a lower one when restoring Databases.

There are many more saavy than I in this realm, but considering the hour I
thought I would get you something that I had used to read through.

Subject: Exchange server went for a swim, now need to restore

As those on the sysadmin list know, our data centre was flooded.

I'm now preparing to restore exchange and have a few challenges so I'm hoping
the list can help.

We had two exchange servers.

Exchange01 - Windows Server 2008 SP2, Exchange 2007 with SP2, Client Access
Exchange02 - Windows Server 2008 SP2, Exchange 2007 with SP2, Mailbox and Hub
Transport(I think).

My understanding is that I need to build the servers with the exact names then
install Exchange using the recoverserver switch, then restore the databases
etc. The problems I have:-

1. I'm not sure which server had the Hub Transport on (I THINK it was the
mailbox server).
2. I'm unsure what patch level exchange was at. It had SP2 and a CU but I
don't know what CU level it was at.

What I have:-

1. System State and mailbox backups.
2. Functioning AD.

Thanks for any assistance.

James.
