Correct. I have yet to find a "complete" comparison on the pros/cons between using BES vs. not using BES but, this gives a high level of the new BES world:

From what I'm told: Classic BB and new BB are two completely different platforms. Separate them in your mind completely. New BB uses ActiveSync for sync purposes.
