No, Nick.  It was someone with a minimal command
of written English.

I think he tried to tell me that starting salary was $900
and that I was putting something over on him.  (One of
your office staff?)

Anyway, the girl is worth $2,000 atleast, so $1300 was
a more than fair starting point.  I base this on the fact
that some embassy staff have left their job (pay: $1,300)
and job security to work elsewhere.
