I am doing that (registration for PRP) right now.

The PRP must be registered at an address. If your LL will allow it
(doubtful), then you are in good shape. If not, you would need to own a
property

Dear Peter,

do you know if permanent resident permit requires permanent address
registration after that. I am asking because me and my husband are renting
an apartment and the landlord has registered me but when I get PRP I will
not have permanent address registration (propiska), just the temporary one.
So, in this case, I wonder whether it makes sense to proceed with PRP...
Thank you for the reply.
Best regards, Natali

Bernard...

Temporary residency permit Visa: need exit visa every time you leave
country (3 days prior to departure)
                                                        Work Permit - YES
Permanent residency permit Visa: NO (you get blue Russian passport -
valid 5 years)
                                                        Work Permit - NO
You can obtain PRP after 1 year of TRP (starting 6 months prior with
application)
Peter

I can give the law on the issue and a contact (lawyer) who has already done
several temporary as well as permanent residency permits

Peter
