I think that 1000 rfr/m2 for a room is fairly accurate. However, if you are renting an apartment rather than a single room, it's somewhat high even for the centre, I live about 400m away from the Kremlin and pay under $2,000 for 72m2 in rubles.
But... if you don't have the language, willingness to use cian.ru, etc. then 1000rfr/m2 for the center is a very good guide.
