I got Sis to work with these settings, 1024x768, full 32 bits:
under Section "Device"

  VideoRam 8192 #<-- my ram
  Option "on_accel"
  #Option "fifo_moderate"
  #Option "fifo_conserv"
  #Option "fifo_aggresive"
  Option "fast_vram"
  Option "pci_burst_on"
  #Options "xaa_benchmark" # don't use with ext_eng_queue!
  Option "ext_eng_queue"
  #Option "hw_clocks"
  Option "sw_cursor"
  Option "no_linear"

EndSection

  enabling accel causes undrawn lines
  fast_vram helps with speckling
  pci_burst_on speeds it up
  the ext_eng_queue gives a speedup

using hw_clocks messes up a lot
enabling linear provides a disasterous drawing.
