Well do this:

telnet compan.emporia.edu 25
HELO yourhost.domain.com
MAIL FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
RCPT TO:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I tried that and got an error:
Recipient address rejected: Relay access denied

You'll need to add compan.emporia.edu to /etc/sendmail.cw (or alternative)
and setup the files in /etc/mail correctly..
