I just bought a Ricoh MP7040A burner a few weeks ago. It's an ATAPI
internal model that reads and burns CD-Rs and CD-RWs at 4x, normal CD
read is 20x. It is supported by cdrecord and works extremely well under
Linux (don't have Windows installed to try that). I believe I paid
around $199 for it.
