Have you tried Using OSS drivers for Soundblaster 128?
A 512 is a 4*128 SounBlaster PCI A.K.A. as Ensoniq Audio PCI 1370..
With some tweaks it happenned to work 100% fine (For Me: AMD K6-2 450, 64 Mb
PC 100, MoBo PC100 m577 w/nothing on board but rather excellent, Creative
Blaster Banshee 16 MB AGP 1x)
