1) - In theory, at least, the gui login panel should allow one to choose the
window manager, and it does provide tabs for gnome, enlightenment,etc., etc.
However, when I choose one of these, I always get KDE, no matter which I have
chosen.
This is a pretty standard Mdk 7.2 system.
2) - Assuming that 1) has been solved, how does one add to the list of window
managers? I'm experimenting with XFCE now (which works well), but the only
way I can bring it up is to revert to the non-gui login, login, and
'startxfce'.
