If the /etc/fstab file the old root device was /dev/hdb1 so the new one would 
be /dev/hdc1, in lilo pass the parameter 
linux root=/dev/hdc1
but first boot with a floppy and change the /etc/fstab where says hdb to hdc 
(make a backup of that file first). And the new device for the cdrom..
