Well, then I would probably loose the pretty Aurora boot splash screen, wouldn't I? :-) Seriously, I guess it depends on what you use off of the kernel, I got use to using distro-specific sources after I started using ReiserFS, and the main Kernel branch still didn't have ReiserFS support (I believe it does now).
