I once again figured this out before an answer. IN a directory /etc/X11/wmsession.d 
are several text files with exec paths to the window mangers. They must be entered 
into kdm login manager exactly as listed (case sensitive) to make them work. I dont 
know why they disappeared . but they are back now that i fixed it. BTW, AEwm++ wasn 
that great, but I learned something
