Hi, Oh boy! you don't want mess with that beast! Sounds like the PS2 type setup. The bios info is stored on hard disk not in NVRAM. I suspect that the HD has failed or your pal reformatted without realising the problem he would create. The reference disk is a bootable IBM dos floppy which has the basic programmes to create and write the bios info to the HD without this disk you cannot even boot the machine let alone configure it. There is nothing you can do except find some kind soul who has the correct disc that he send you an image of. I have one for an old PS2 but I doubt if this would be suitable for the machine you speak of. Sorry I can't help more. Colin Close
