I have read the HOWTO (several times). (a) It is old; at the time it
was written KDE was not "xinerama aware". Now it (supposedly) is. (b) My
problem is _not_ getting xinerama to work. It _is_ working just fine.
I can slide windows from one monitor to the other.

Also the xinerama extensions _are_ enabled in /etc/X11/XF86Config.

There is no problem with X and Xinerama.

But the _window manager_ (indeed all of KDE) acts as though it is
unaware of the two physical monitors so that, for example, if I
horiztonally maximise a window it stretchs across the whole desktop.

I appreciate your trying to help. I don't want to be rude and ignore
your attempts. But re-stating all this every third message is
getting tiresome. Please, if you _really_ think you can help, first
read the entire thread so you know what's gone before.

And here I must apologise for the erroneous "Subject:" in my last
message. I have put it back to what the original thread was titled.
I get the daily digest so hitting "reply" puts the wrong subject in the
"Subject:" line.
