I appreciate the information, Todd, although by now I've painfully figured out and put in all the links by hand.... :-/ No offence, but *who* is going to think that they need to run "update- alternatives" after installing a Mandrake-supplied rpm? I did my install from the CD image created HD directories, and had no reason to think I was going to need to run anything manually to get those links in place (for that matter, it's now a system which creates a link pointing to a link pointing to a link??? That's not very efficient....). I'll bet virtually no one else would, either. >From the rest of your message, it looks like there's supposed to be a script automatically executed when the rpm is installed, but that *didn't* happen, just so you know.
