I have it play a 10 second opening from the Rites of Spring as a .WAV file using /usr/bin/play (it also works with esdplay) and it works fine. I wouldn't try this on a lightweight processor, though, as it will bog the system down. Granted a 500 mz processor or above and a minimum of 256 MEG of RAM you can have it play anything you prefer. I imagine it would even gleefully play a MIDI file if you wanted to work out the details. It's actually pretty handy if you poll a mail server once in awhile for new mail.
