If you could try it with 9.1 it would be much appreciated :-) As I mentioned, the JRE's I have tried (both Sun and IBM, 1.3.1 and 1.4) all crash upon speakpad startup. Actually Sun 1.3.1 with ALSA started up ok, but then there was no sound input (I've got a soundblaster live). In the past I've had to use OSS with ViaVoice.
