Jay, we agree about something? That's what the class should be working
towards, not eliminated the current platform, but adding another.

No question that the CVT is the better alternative for solo. I do not want
to replace the 500cc 2 stroke, I want to ADD an additional 4 stroke with
trans that turns the same lap time as the current best F500. Then we get
the best of both worlds, the guys that like the 2 stroke CVT & the guys that
want to shift. Who cares as long as we can grow as a class.

Subject: RE: [F500] engines
Like DSR, there could be equality between 2-stroke CVT and 4-stoke w. tranny
and everyone could be happy ('cept the ones who lose most of the time :->)
SCCA is also sorta making it work between different 4-strokes like Zetec
and Pinto.
There is only about a 10% displacement increase for 4-strokes in DSR (1000
vs 900)
It might have to be a 20% delta in F500/? to get up to a common MC or ATV
4-stroke size.
"Forumla 56" for 500 and 600cc motors?
Just as an aside, not wanting to restart the old agruments (please muffle
thyself Chris!), I have doubts that shifting makes the class any more
attractive in the long run.
In something as fast paced as a Solo event, shifting shore lacks appeal.
Many F125 guys have commented on how they wish they had my car with no
shifting. I blow by a lot of them when we are lined up together at the
ProSolos.
In straight line and long corner dominated road couse, one could probably
live with the annoyance of shifting :->.
Noise also can't be an issue. 2-strokes can be just as quiet, perhaps
quieter taking advantage of the constant RPM provided by a CVT.
So..please be careful to not throw the baby out with the dishwater.
