I noticed that you must have written some code to make openssl work with
sha1. Do you have a patch?

I made an ugly fix with some randomized unit tests. I'm pretty confident
that it's correct now.

In the future, please make bug reports on the github issues instead of the
mailing list so I don't end up spamming everyone when my fixes are
incorrect and I have to keep updating you on the status. :)
