It could do more harm than good. Many of these 550 people may have given up jobs, sold houses, etc. to become full time, thinking that they would be able to support themselves on $4,000 a month. If that ends of fizzling out, a big chuck of the remaining core may end up disillusioned. ----Yeah, but they won't end up disillusioned again!
