In the interview, Edgar Mitchell mentioned that he grew up in Roswell, NM. He is now 77, and therefore Edgar Mitchell was about the age of 16 or 17- a rather impressionable age- in 1947, the year of the 'alien spaceship crash' at Roswell. Mitchell perhaps was more inclined than the average astronaut to embrace the idea that aliens visit Earth. Has Edgar Mitchell ever offered specifics regarding how he knows the government knows about aliens ? I'd like more corroborating witnesses, such as fellow astronauts who were briefed by the government, official documents, and evidence that strengthens his claim. Too much to ask of him?
I often wonder to what extent the role disinformation, or propaganda, had in the "UFO sitings" of the late 40s and early 50s. Perhaps by generating fear, "UFO" siting propaganda served the military-industrial complex through intensifying support for the nuclear arms race following WWII. Of course the universe supports innumerable forms of existence.
