There was one economist who said that the US economy can withstand to 
have about 30 trillion dollars in debt.  We are now reaching about 
half of that.  However, he does not recommend that we actually reach 
the maximum level he that he stated.

IMO, what's wrong with paying all our debts off?  Why can't we run 
our economy like our own personal financial status?
