No, Willy, actually (primarily for Bhairitu's and
other video nerds' benefit) I took my laptop over
to a friend's house and watched my HD download of
"Defendor" on his new Samsung 3D TV, because he
was curious as to whether the built-in 2D-to-3D
conversion would work on MKV and AVI files played
through a PC plugged into it as well is it does
on 2D DVDs. It seemed to work fine, creating dis-
cernible 3D effects, even though the original
film is not in 3D.

What did you do with *your* Saturday night, Willy?
Sounds as if you should have stayed at home and
read the User's Manual for your TV if you're still
watching computer-based films on your computer,
and assuming anyone else is. :-)

The 3D thang is interesting, by the way, but not
anything I'm going to rush out to buy anytime soon.
You still have to wear glasses to see it, and it
didn't wow me enough to think of upgrading. For
my friend it was pocket change to buy one, so he
did. (He has several Porsches and Ferraris so I've
been sucking up to him big-time so he'll let me
drive them one day.) But me, I'd rather spend the
difference between 2D and 3D on several years'
worth of beer and munchies to go along with the
movies than on "having the latest tech."

Also, for the record, my last post last night,
arriving home after seeing the movie, was at
11:00 pm or so. "Saturday nights in Sitges"
don't even *start* until midnight; most clubs
don't even open before then, especially on a
night on which Barcelona whupped another team's
ass in a game that didn't end until 11:00 or so.
Suffice it to say that it's not a place that
TM wusses who are into "catching the angel
train" would enjoy as much as I do. :-)
