The back story: The "cement boat" at Seacliff Beach was a former floating casino in the 1930's and 40's, about 140 ft long, made of cement, whose substantial remained are now parked at the end of a 75 foot pier, a roost for albatrosses and pelicans. Used to be able to get on the boat, but no more. Never did. Wished I had - lol.
Seacliff is so called because the beach sits at the base of a 50 foot cliff. Great beach, good boogie boarding. Saw a guy surfing when I was there last. He was actually catching and riding waves, but usually the waves break too fast for a surfboard. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, "whynotnow7" <whynotn...@...> wrote: > > I began composing this song about a month ago at Sea Cliff beach, a twenty > minute drive from my house, (my wife was having her granddaughter over, who I > dearly love, but the weather was good, so with her blessings I headed for the > beach...) about five miles south of Santa Cruz, two miles south of Capitola. > > The weather was clear and 72.
