It's a weird position to be placed in, as I'm usually quite content to simply stand quietly at the sidelines. Ten years ago I was told I would replace so-and-so on yet another BoD, but that I'd have to join the Rotary Club and attend regularly in order to "get to know the Board". That made it much easier, as I simply did not join the (rather bizarre but fun) Rotary. Problem solved. But I still get set up occasionally.
