It's really peculiar.  MMY brings out a technique
that, according to him, is his revival of an oral
teaching that has been lost for many centuries, and
folks demand to know its detailed history right 
down to the present.

It's a little like asking Einstein who told him
about the theory of relativity...

(Not *exactly* like that, obviously, but the closest
thing I can think of.)
