Who do you think was more revolutionary in their attempt to change the world? Maharishi or Yogananda? Yogananda certainly paved the way for Maharishi in the West.

Interesting question. They both come from the same caste.

But Yogananda had a guru-sishya relationship with which to receive all the yogic wisdom he passed onto his students.

Maharishi, despite the immense advertising efforts of his followers, has been revealed for what he is. It's still broadcast on American television weekly. He has no guru-sishya relationship. He molested numerous women, while claiming to be a lifelong celibate. And he never, ever trained as a yogi - even his yoga asana course was done by someone else! What kind of yogi is that?

Yogananda on the other hand was declared a Paramahamsa yogi by his own master.

Heck, even George Harrison left TM to follow Yogananda's teachings.
