Well, I have never claimed that they are all cold-hearted bastards. However, the current crop of politicians seem to be very one-pointed in their fixation on certain talking points, even in the face of more moderate conservatives telling them that they are full of it: e.g. refusing to allow the tax cuts to lapse on the top wage earners, and decrying the Buffet tax proposal as "socialist" even though most people (even 30-40% of the people most likely to be hit by the proposal) are in favor of it.
