I was at the super new Viking exhibition at the British Museum the other day and they are claiming the same thing, but there's an old helmet from some raid or other that had attachments on the side that would have allowed some horns to be fitted easily. I think absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence so I continue to hope that a horned Viking helmet will be found. Simply because they look cool. But they were big on brooches though. Really big. Apparently you can tell how important a Viking was by how big his brooch was. Seriously, some of them were a foot long and amazingly beautiful, really nice gold and silver work, lots of Celtic crosses. Sigh. I can't stop thinking about Emma with a nice brooch on her shawl. No wonder they invaded us so easily....
