No, this isn't a rap about the Ferrari automobile of that name, although I did get to drive one once for about an hour, and it was a wonderfully exciting experience. This is a rap about that other high-initial-cost, high-maintenance namesake of the Ferrari, redheads.
Sitting outside at my fave cafe now that the work day is over, I was reminded of the subject line by a veritable horde of redheads walking by today. "Horde" doesn't sound like the right word, though...there should be a better "group name," like a gaggle of geese or a murder of crows. I've got it. A blaze of redheads. Anyway, a blaze or three of redheads have walked by today, and it's spurred both my appreciation and my anticipation. Appreciation because there is really nothing like looking up and seeing a redhead bouncing (redheads all seem to bounce...have you noticed that?) down the street at you. The hair serves as almost a beacon, grabbing your (or at least my) attention from as far as a block away. Anticipation because although I have downloaded the latest episode of "Game Of Thrones" I haven't been able to see it, because I am duty-bound to wait until this evening to watch it with the rest of my family (Maya excepted). There are a few great redheads in that series, and it's been far too long since I last got to see them. Sansa (Sophie Tucker) is a natural redhead, and a real beauty, and Melisandre (Carice van Houten, a Leiden girl) is sometimes portrayed as a redhead, although I don't think she was by birth. But it's really Ygritte (Rose Leslie) and her fiery mane who sets my heart a'flutter. I suspect spending time with her would be as thrilling as driving the Ferrari was...
