The other alternative is for a scientist to clone a human being. That would
eliminate the technical problems with sewing a head back on someone else's
body.

A clone would physically look like yourself, but if it lives, he or she might
not have the same soul as you in that new body.

Well there is the chance they may get the head on backwards but that might not

Actually, I would like to see if he can succeed in his bravado. Theologians
can determine the significance of this event later in terms of spiritual
meaning.

Ahem. Theologians "determine" nothing. They just talk bullshit, same as you're
doing. :-)

But it just appears to me that this idea is unnatural. IOW, if your body
can't function anymore, why prolong it? There is nothing wrong with dying with
dignity. Or as Einstein would put it..."to die elegantly".

In other words, you'd like to prevent this "unnatural" thing from ever being
put to the test, so that you never have to deal with what the implications
would be if it succeeded. Thought so.

Methinks John is terrified that the procedure might work. If so, there goes
the notion of "human soul" right out the window, cuz identity would then have
been proven to reside entirely in the brain.

The doctor is trying to get media attention by talking bravado. He has to
prove that his procedures can perform this operation. Otherwise, he's talking
nonsense.
