The Hindu/Yoga Sun Salutation has no hands-and-knees pose (and no on-the-knees
pose either, for that matter).

I'm surprised you didn't know that "salute" refers to "bowing down" to God
Surya.

I'm even more surprised that you didn't realize that full prostration
generates inner heat. You don't get the inner heat unless you get down on your
hands and knees and do the full praanam.

Almost all yogis know that Hatha Yoga is Kundalini Yoga. And, Hatha Yoga
produces heat. In fact, all activity produces heat! But, what is referenced in
the Surya Praanam is specifically 'inner heat', the heat that burns up karma.

This practice is tied to bowing (pranam) with prayers to Surya. Pranams is
Sanskrit for "bowing in reverence."

This Kundalini Sun Salutation is tied to reverence and prayer and likely looks
more like the Sun Salutation the rishis of old might have practiced.
