Ashram-like communities can develop lexicon that is thick with a jargon for
spiritual experience, jargon that can work as its own peculiar shorthand for
those within the experience of a community. As one looks in to historic groups
you can find this in the writings of spiritual practice ashram-like
communities. Such as with monastic orders, in the Shaker experience, with the
mystics of the Amana group, in old silent Quakers and in more contemporary
groups like in Yogananda’s SRF communities. I hear this too in some of my x-ian
friends speaking to their inner spiritual experience, a developed technical
language that operates as being descriptive for them.
Recently there is a book out from inside the TM movement that fabulous
resource as to a reference in to a communal group’s lexicon of spiritual
experience. Thick reading but for the scholar of this..
 This is still available..
