Hi, Paul, when I was in India in the 70's I met many people who had known, visited, paid respect to and even talked to Guru Dev. They would only roll their eyes and say it was too beautiful to talk about, meeting and being around Guru Dev, that is. They wouldn't talk about him beyond that They acknowledged that they also remembered Mahesh back then, too. But they didn't roll their eyes and simply refused to talk about him. Personally, I think Mahesh nicked the yantra, prized out the rubies and whatever other precious stones it might have contained, sold it all and started a bank account. Or, just as reasonably, the present Shankaracharya of Jyotia has it. Or, maybe one of Guru Dev's family collected it? Or, it went into the box with him, into the Ganges ... or maybe that's why Mahesh jumped in after the box, he wanted to get the yantra out. Or, some other scenario. India has many jewel dealers. A friend from Switzerland came to visit me when I was in India because he was buying and selling precious stones. Apparently it's quite easy to deal in such things in India because there aren't so many questions asked. At least there weren't then. Surely it wouldn't be too difficult to do some research into yantras and other Indian antiquities to get a feeling for what size such things might be. It seems reasonable that it was smallish, easy to carry around. Maybe it was about the size of some of the common Tibetan ritual implements we see at empowerments and such?
