Leaving aside your implicit praising of '"Swami" Rama" (why the
quotes, BTW?)
There's some question as to whether or not he was really a "swami".
In fact it's known that the Swami has at least one son. Not to
mention the fact the guy took sexual advantage of his female
students. Thus the quotes.
, I just find it
amusing that you praised SSRS for what you thought was a mass
initiation of millions of
people into a TM-like technique at a large public gathering on the
first day of the
gathering, and yet denounce MMY's organization which at least
provides a 4 day training
session with initial private instruction and lifetime followup, and
THEN procede to explain
how awful the TMO is for not following the traditional procedure
for teaching meditation
after instruction in asanas, pranayama and months-long personal
evaluation of the
student by the teacher...
SSRS used to recommend pranayama before meditation instruction. I do
not know if he still does. He just seems more responsible in his
delivery of the teachings. The sequence is important for a number of
reasons, most important IMMO is less side effects, less burnouts and
a smooth awakening (the "mechanics" of which were recently posted).
You definitely don't want shakti taking the wrong path unless you're
close to someone who knows how to straighten you out :-).
