WASHINGTON -- During the past summer, a female acquaintance of mine in
her 70s who had been a faithful Republican during her long life was
solicited by a GOP cold caller as a previous contributor to the party.
Not this time. She informed the fundraiser that President Bush's
position on immigration was the last straw. She would not give the
Republicans another dime -- not now, maybe never. So, she told him,
stop calling me!

I did the exact same thing! I have been called at least twice in the past
six months, once just last week, asking for donations. I told them "not another

penny from me until I see some serious changes made" and that I felt betrayed
by the Immigration bill and if somebody like McCain were nominated, the
party will have lost me for ever. My intent as the lady above is to put
pressure
on the Republican party to respect it's base. Letting them get a little
nervous about where their support is going to come from will be a healthy
thing.
