The website is running in the default app pool under the predefined security
account "Network Service".

Are you suggesting that I need to give that user read/write permission on
the C:\Program Files\Helicon\ISAPI_Rewrite directory?

Note that nothing is showing up in the event log.


Another potential solution: do I need to explicitly allow the extension
under IIS6's "Web Service Extension" listing? (refer to
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=tomcat-user&m=106251758316868&w=2)

has the identity of the app pool got permission to access the httpd.ini
file? I have it working on win2k3 with cf on standalone servers as well as
clustered jrun with SAN disks - a nightmare to get to the bottom of the
problem but got there in the end, usually it's a permission thing to get it
playing nicely.
