The Virtual Server instance in this case was my development machine,
set up to mirror the production environment which is a dedicated
server.

As far as shared hosting is going, if I wanted to host a FarCry site
on a shared host I would definitely go with one of the hosts that
already has FarCry setup, such as Fasthit/HostingFuse. Because FarCry
was not originally designed with shared hosting in mind, there's a lot
more to successfully hosting it in a shared environment than just
mappings, imho.
