Yes, you should be able to upgrade straight to 5.2.7.  But there are a  
few steps that you have to do.

1. The most important: backup your DB first.  A lot of DB changes will  
happen during the upgrade. Backing up ensures you can rollback on case  
something goes wrong.  You may want to try the upgrades in dev first.
2. Keep a backup of your FC core and plugins.
3. Make sure you update your plugins too (assuming a FC 5 version of  
them exists).
4. As of FC 5.1 you'll need a Rewrite tool for Friendly URLs. Whether  
or not you were already using one for FC 4, make sure to check the  
docs/wiki and see that your scripts are correct.
5. There is a place in the docs homepage that talks about upgrading  
from 4 to 5.  Make sure you go through that and setup things like the  
"webtop" web mapping.
6. After you're all done and everything appears to be running, make  
sure you run the updater to 5.2. To do this, go to http://domain/webtop/updates 
  and run the updater for 5.2.
