Thanks Chris :) I guess we should open up discussion about the FarCry 7 roadmap. At the moment things are a little experimental but it should be taking shape in the next month or so as we progress towards a beta release.
These are the goals for the FarCry 7 Webtop in a nutshell: - New design, no more frameset :) - Performance - Improved site tree - Optimise the navigation path to performing most tasks (less clicks) - Customisable brand logo, colour scheme and "environment" indicator - Replace ad-hoc .cfm files with type webskins (including webtop page layout, header, footer, i.e. you could override these in your project) - Retain compatibility with existing webtop XML structure So far trunk has started to address each of these items, with the exception of the site tree. I have ideas for the site tree which need to be wireframed or built into demos - it's definitely the biggest change that we'll want to get some discussion going about. There are also goals we have for FarCry 7 outside of the webtop: - App startup / restart performance - Drag and drop files and images - Front-end in-page editing - Plugin management tools - Better data import / export - Unmodified draft object workflow tweaks - Archiving objects workflow tweaks A few of these will come in the 7.0 release, others might follow in 7.1, and of course other features not listed could pop up at any time based on suggestions or sponsored development :) Please feel free to offer comments or discuss any aspects of what you are seeing in the roadmap or in the evolution of trunk. Sometimes early feedback can assist the direction we take, other times we might not be far enough along the path to be able to make changes, but it's always good to get ideas flying around. Let us know what you think. We want FarCry 7 to be amazing. cheers, Justin On 02/03/2013 6:19 AM, "Chris Kent" <[email protected]> wrote: > Have had a quick look at FarCry 7 and looking very impressive, this is > going to be the biggest step forward in the webtop UI. > > I know it is early days, but let us know when you want any testing done. > > Chris > > -- > You received this message cos you are subscribed to "farcry-dev" Google > group. > To post, email: [email protected] > To unsubscribe, email: [email protected] > For more options: http://groups.google.com/group/farcry-dev > -------------------------------- > Follow us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/farcry > --- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "farcry-dev" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to [email protected]. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/groups/opt_out. > > > -- You received this message cos you are subscribed to "farcry-dev" Google group.
