Hi Justin,
Thanks for info. If project goes ahead with FarCry then I would look at importing posts and categories from WordPress into FarCry and import comments into Disqus. Not sure a direct import from WordPress to Disqus would work as URLs would not be the same and I guess it is the URL that Disqus uses to associate comments to a post. Will probably create an alternate URL for the old WordPress URL redirected to the new FarCry URL. For pages you'd need to create both nav nodes and the underlying HTML object, not difficult, just wasn't worth it for me since my blog had 1 page and hand copying the content was more efficient :) You could export the WordPress comments for use in Disqus, they accept the WordPress export format so there's actually nothing to build in that regard - very handy! cheers, Justin -- Justin Carter http://www.madfellas.com/blog http://twitter.com/justincarter On Wed, Nov 6, 2013 at 2:05 PM, AJ Mercer <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > wrote: WordPress importer would need to distinguish between pages and posts and I guess import all the comments too On 6 November 2013 10:52, Justin Carter <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > wrote: Hey Chris, A few more importers would be good, especially WordPress :) I have a little bit of tidying up to do to make the plugin more release worthy, but feel free to fork it if you like. I used Disqus mainly to make the implementation time quicker (import, done!), but also to handle the complexities of commenting (subscribers, reply notification, votes up/down, spam protection, flagging, moderation, media embeds, etc). If you build a commenting system you really need to do it right, and all I really wanted to build for now was a simple blog so I took care of those parts and left the commenting to someone who runs their whole business doing commenting well, hehe. cheers, Justin -- Justin Carter http://www.madfellas.com/blog http://twitter.com/justincarter On Wed, Nov 6, 2013 at 5:57 AM, Chris Kent <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > wrote: Hi Justin, I have a new client moving from a WordPress site to FarCry 7 and have seen your new blog plugin. Looks like it could be a good starting point to add a an alternate version of webtopImportContentBlogCFC.cfm to import from WordPress db. Any reason why you moved to disqus.com <http://disqus.com> and not kept the comments within FarCry? Chris. -- You received this message cos you are subscribed to "farcry-dev" Google group.
