I have never done this. I suppose you could mount the device on the target 
side. I don't know about the FS you're using, but I would guess that it could 
be problematic since it's not really how it would work if the FS supported a 
distributed model. It might just work, but I would guess that it is not really 
a supported mode.

Maybe someone on the targetcli development list might know more about it.
