I have been using FREE Compusec with their GA Lite product (which allows me to encrypt at 256 rather than the default 128) for a few months now. I have installed it on several platforms (old and new hardware) and have noticed hardly any noticeable performance hit.

The one major drawback that I can see all software based solutions is the overhead on the CPU. Given that the trend now is heading for multicore CPUs I was wondering if any of your subscribers has any information regarding the performance of these software solutions on QUAD/DUAL core intel cpus. I would be interested to know if anyone has tried these suites on quad core CPUs. I rather suspect that seeing as the operating systems [and most likely the software packages as well] are not coded for multicore environments that the performance overhead would still be quite substantial. Anyway, I hope you can help me get a better understanding. Sincerely.
