Like Minix3 with only 4000 lines of key kernel code! Or to get truly exotic, Forth run on a purpose built CPU with a bootstrap code of about 8k (as I recall) in silicon. I've always been a bit saddened by the general lack of use of Forth except in Germany where Reverse Polish Notation and the verb at the end syntax matches the German language structure. But then, I have never _really_ adapted to that style of thinking so I can't blame others for being unwilling to go down that path. But it does run blazingly fast.
